Notes on Hyouka Part 0: Prologue

This is just an introduction to a series of posts I’ve had in mind for a while. The “official” first post, out of a possible 3 or more, will be up before Thursday. Assuming I don’t lose motivation before finish them all, the posts will go as follows.

1. A vague comparison of the main characters of bot series (S.H. and Hyouka)
2. A more detailed analysis and, depending on the length, might be divided on several posts, each focusing on an individual character.
3. (Uncertain) If was unable to mention them in the previous posts I’ll try break up the arcs and small stories in Houyka and mark the resemblances between them and the S.H. ones

In all probability there will be a lot of Sherlock Holmes spoilers, ideally you should read all of the S.H. stories and novels and draw your own conclusions, then you wouldn’t need to go through my awful writing and we could all live happily ever after.

The post you are currently reading barely mentions Hyouka or Holmes and is only an explanation on how I ended up with the need to write about them. Frankly speaking, this post is neither interesting nor relevant to the others that’ll follow  so feel free to skip it, please skip it.

The reason why I’m publishing it is because the first paragraph of the promised-before-Thursday post will have no context without it. Also, taking into consideration this events took place more than a month ago, I’m publicly condemning myself to a deadline for it.

Angry Enough to Murder

There has been some interesting discussion regarding PSYCHO-PASS, because so far is interesting, it can still screw up in any moment but lets be positive,  furthermore is too soon to talk.

I kind of wanted to make this port about the importance of character development and how it works, but screw that, after all I just wanted an excuse to write about good characters individually, and why and how they work (individually).

After pretending to writing about the lady boos (or Dragon lady) I had a death wish to write about the other roles a character could have, the famous loser male lead is one of them, mainly because I happen to see one of them being well written with good execution, plus I want everybody to read this manga because so far has been so good.

Anime and other forms of media are always criticized of being sexist, portraying women as a sexual object, etcetera, etcetera I don’t really want to get into that, even though I get the feeling I will.

Note: If you haven’t finish Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood/ Berserk get out of here, I try to avoid spoilers but I can’t guarantee anything…

I find Byosoku an edgy kind of anime, I hear some calling it a masterpiece and those who find it mind numbing, I say if you like clouds this is might be the anime for you. The first person who recommended me this anime, I can only describe him as a cynical romantic, aware of its unpopularity said “if you haven’t loved (mutual) and lost, you wouldn’t be able to understand it”¹

More penguins and the children who have to pay for their parent’s sins

No prof reading cuz I’m lazy and wrote this on a whim beacuse this person Draggle wrote something relating the bible, and penguin drum, and I couldn’t resist adding a bit more to it. This is kind of the thing TWWK would write,(Christianity/Anime) but I haven’t seen him doing it yet, so busted.

I’m doing it, horribly by the way, so skip it, because this will probably be more about the bible than penguin drum and you don’t want to read that.

Thoughts on evil penguin (part 2)

Wow, I’m on a roll, this must be fate. Anyway back to business. But first a confession.

Done, now,  another thing I really like about penguin drum the sense of urgency it gives, without saying anything I get the feeling that the hat doesn’t have much time either. I’m not sure if I’m the only one who sees it that way but it really gives away that feeling. So

Thoughts on penguin group (Part 1)

Penguin Drum has been the hit of the season, everybody has something to say about it, and what a surprise!! Eeven I have something to say.

We all know that the story is completely original, which gives room to more speculation and less spoilers. The show has also raised many questions and I hope they don’t remain unanswered, to organize my thought’s I made a list… which transformed into a post. (Good for blogging)

To make this clear, what fallows is a list of mostly questions, some incomplete answers, strange conclusions and maybe some silly speculation. All mashed up together by the bonds of fate me. Soooo

Confessions of a tsundere

Recently, very recently, (anything after my last post is [ashamed] recent) a certain blogger, without mentioning any names but Krizzlybear, wrote about dating tsunderes and domestic violence, not exactly like that, but yes that.

I have my opinion on the mater of course, since I consider myself a tsundere and identify with them. I’m not defending them though.

So now where do I start… well first, I firmly believe that tsundere origins are (mostly) traumatic, childhood probably, if someone acts tsun-tsun (IRL not just joking) because they are imitating a character then please die (shinde kudasai weaboos)

Trying to explain it on “simple” terms a tsundereism is an active/aggressive way of acting or being shy, due to insecurity and mostly for self-preservation of ones feelings.

Charcoal Feather Federation

After being told off for my laziness I shall now write something with the hope of it being interesting, or at least funny. In the worst case scenario it will be readable.

So what’s hot? Haibane Renmei the new black is charcoal and not exactly that new. It was aired on 2002 but sure is hot (and by hot I mean likeable).  I like the feeling of melancholia that makes me feel all warm and fluffy inside. Also the music is amazing and has a contrasting effect, if feels cool and refreshing. A very interesting combination if you ask me.
